11th Annual Life in Kyrgyzstan Conference 2025 took place in Bishkek in October 2025

The 11th Annual Life in Kyrgyzstan (LiK) Conference gathered researchers, development experts, and policymakers from across Kyrgyzstan, Central Asia, and beyond to present and discuss research findings, recent economic and social developments, and discuss new insights from the Life in Kyrgyzstan Study. The event was co-organized by the University of Central Asia (UCA), the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ, Germany), and ISDC – International Security and Development Center (Germany), with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), American University of Central Asia (AUCA), UNFPA, and the World Bank.

Building on more than a decade of collaboration, this year’s conference showcased how data from the LiK Study continues to shape academic research, teaching, and evidence-based policymaking in Kyrgyzstan. Discussions focused on pressing issues such as climate resilience, migration, gender equality, rural transformation, agriculture, food security, and institutional change. The programme featured over 25 plenary and thematic sessions combining research findings, policy dialogue, and methodological innovation. New results from the seventh wave of LiK data collection highlighted major trends since 2010 – including record-high life satisfaction levels in 2025.
